With doctor's visits, Christmas, and getting everything ready for the Christmas break with my students....it's been CRAZY. But with all of this, Matt and I are still staying strong even with all the updates from our friends who are struggling. Over the past month or so, we have several friends who have found out they are expecting. Its hard and though Im do get jealous, I am beyond excited for them. This just makes me look to God even more.

As for the doctors and meds, I was put on a ten day pill to force a cycle. I took all ten and ended with no cycle...not until threes days after I finished did the cycle finally come. Thinking about all of this makes me laugh. Most people dread their cycle, and I am here praying for it to come. On day three of my cycle, I started Clomid. I finished the first round on Saturday. Most of the time, people do not end up successful on the first round but who knows.:) We will see!

This Man Called Jesus

It is that time of year again. The lights are put on the tree and the colors of greens and reds take over the house (inside and out). I love this time of year and get all excited inside. Its also the time of the year where are weekends are spent at Church reflecting and remembering our Lord and Savior. Matt and I are apart of a wonderful production put on my Lake Murray Baptist. It is an wonderful play of the life of Jesus. If you have not had the opportunity to see it, you really should. And if you have seen, it does not hurt to see it again.

Better late than never!!!! Right? Thanksgiving started with watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade which I have watched every year. I love that thing though Matt says he hates. I did catch him watching it as we were getting ready. Then we headed to my Aunt's house for a amazing meal. I had to make green bean casserole. It turned out pretty good. We hung out they for awhile and then made a family handprint tree for my Grandparents. Later in the afternoon, we had to Matt's grandmothers house to eat some more and play some more cornhole. I did not get my camera out while we were there:( Here are a few from my Aunt's house though.

What is PCOS

After my last post, I've been asked a lot of questions, along with so much support. First of all, I would like to thank each and everyone of you. Second, I want to clarify and explain what Matt and I are dealing with. I have Polycystic ovary syndrome, known as PCOS. Normally, one or more eggs are released during each menstrual cycle, ovulation. In polycystic ovary syndrome, the eggs in these follicles do not mature and are not released from the ovaries. Instead, they can form very small cysts in the ovary. These changes can contribute to infertility. The other symptoms of this disorder are due to the hormone imbalances.

As for me, I have not had a menstrual cycle since July of 2010, over a year and a half. I was placed on medicines this past December and due to the side effects, I have stopped. Matt and I are in the process of taking the next step. Please pray for us during this time!

Its in his hands. This is the answer I have said over and over. It’s the answer I tell myself when I question it. As I struggle with the facts that God has not given me the opportunity to have children. I struggle tonight with the way to answer others when they ask me when we plan to have children or even start. But what’s the hardest is when people say they can’t believe we are not even trying and are not taking up the opportunity to go forth with the next step in our marriage. All I want to really say to these people is “First, its not of your business and second SERIOUSLY.”
As they tears fall down my cheeks tonight as I write this, I pray for the strength to know that God is truly in control and that our situation is in his hands and time. I also pray that he gives me the words to answer these tough questions as they arise.

Fall has "HIT" the Holliman Household. This is one of my favorite seasons not just because the weather becomes cool, but the decorations for Fall are so beautiful and the fashion of fall is just wonderful. My front porch is not done yet. We have not made it to the "patch" yet but once I have, I will be sure to post pictures. I just don't know what to do once I get my pumpkins. Two years ago, I painted our street numbers on them and last year I painted each pumpkin a different color with designs. I will have to come up with something creative!

But on with what has been completed so far.

Yes, I know! That is what I am telling myself. This going back to work thing is for the birds and I have yet to get accustomed to the "new" schedule. There has also been so much going on lately. For the past two weekend we have been traveling out of town for weekend. One was in Greenville. Matt was in the wedding and we had so much fun hanging out with some of our amazing friends in the great atmosphere of downtown Greenville. The second wedding was in Charleston. The couple are two wonderful friends of ours from Lexington. The weather was perfect for the wedding and the rain never came near us on Sullivan's. Here are a few pictures. Fripp and Family

Over the Labor Day holiday weekend, Matt's family takes a vacation to Fripp Island. This is the 3rd year we have done it. It is always nice to get away with and relax with each other. This year we stayed at house that was on the creek, golf coarse, and the beach. It had an amazing view.

We also has someone that wanted to join our family. Everytime we went out on the porch, this guy was out there waiting on us. Sometimes, there was two of them looking up at us.

And we also got to see the deer. We love seeing how many deer we can find as we drive around the island.

This year we took our family pictures out on the rocks in front of the water by the crabbing docks. They turned out so good.

The day we left, we had a bump in the road. Mrs. Linda fell down the stairs and broke her foot. She ended up having to have surgery this past Thursday. Please pray for her as she goes through this tough time and heals.

Well the new school year is fast approaching and the teachers are working hard to get everything ready to start! In order to get ready for a school year, teachers, have to set up their classrooms by moving their furniture, unpacking all of their organizational buckets and books, putting labels and names in books for their students, coming up with neat first day activities and of coarse decorating the classroom to make it feel welcoming and cool for their future students all while attending meeting after meeting.

This past week teachers went back to work on Wednesday to get ready for the students to come this upcoming Wednesday. This is what has been done so far to greet my students as they come down the hallway and at the door of my classroom.

I saw this awesome idea on Pinterest and just had to add it to my door. I made it out of a picture frame and yarn.

The banner is above the door as the students enter the room.

We don't really have a board out of our doors, so we have to make our own. This year, my board say's "Look WHOOOO's in Mrs. Holliman's Class" with an owl and each leaf has each of the student's name on it.

What a week???

Last week, lets just say, was just plain awful! It started off with me loosing my phone while camping. Once we get home, Matt's jeep had to be put back in the shop after just picking it up on Wednesday the week before. Then our air goes out on Wednesday. The company comes to fix but needless to say they did not. I was trying to do work at the house while it was 87 degrees and had to get out of there on Thursday. The owner of the air company came out Friday evening but could not fix it. The whole weekend we went with no air so we decided to stay with each of our parents and with friends. I'm so thankful to have our families so close and some amazing friends. During the week, my garbage disposal also went out. I know Matt could get that fixed, so it was not as big of a deal but just something else on our plate.

The good news is, I did find my phone......in the Graham Cracker box from our camping trip!!!!

Happy Anniversary!

Yesterday was our 2nd Anniversary! Can you believe it? I can't. Time has flown by but it sure has been a great 2 years. I could not imagine it any other way.

For our anniversary, we went camping with 14 amazing friends in Boone, North Carolina for the weekend. We got to eat the best BBQ and spent time relaxing while floating down the river. Pictures to come soon of the weekend.

Yesterday for our actually anniversary. I had training at school all day but when I got home, Matt was already home in the kitchen cooking dinner and had a glass of wine ready and waiting for me. The table was also set with pink roses and a card. For dessert, we ate our wedding cake! And by surprise, it was still very good! Yes, I wrapped it back up and put it in the freezer.

After dinner we watched my favorite LOVE movie "The Notebook."

Our anniversary turned out wonderful and loved every minute I got to spend with Matt! I love you more and more every year and I cant not wait to spend many more with you.

I love my little "Buddy" dog! Over the summer he has been my alarm clock by sitting on my stomach (just like this picture) around 8:00 when he thinks its time to get or rather go outside. I am so going to miss this once school starts back up when I have to hear that "beep beep beep" coming from an object I could just hit!

My New Nails

Have you seen this before? I have and well I just had to try them.

The box come with "sticker" paint strips (16) in different sizes, a wooden sticks for your cuticles and to help shape the strips, and a nail file.

Today, I did my toes! And I think they turned out cute! I also have a light solid color for my nails.

I had my niece with me today and we did her fingers!

I think she likes them and I do too!

Lets hope they work out and last long than my liquid nail polish!

S.T.A.M.P.S (Watches)

Recently, I was out shopping with my mom and came across a new watch that I feel in love with. They are called S.T.A.M.P.S. All you do is find a watch face you like and match it to a colored band. I got a white with gray face and a gray band to start with. I have a whole list of other faces and bands that I want. I bough mine from Tera's in Lexington. They have plenty to choose from. You can also go on the S.T.A.M.P.S website to see all their options. They also have a generator where you can match/make your own watch (here).

Struggles

I know God has a plan. As I sit here, I pray for the plans he has for Matt and I. Recently, we have been struggling with the fact that we still have two homes for sale. We are struggling with the fact I am not able to become pregnant and being diagnosed with PCOS. I know his timing is everything and he will be with us. But as I sit here, I thought about how these two are both related. At this moment, we are not ready for God to grant us with a child. Having two homes can put a stain on us financially nor do we have the room.

The future for us is unknown but God is amazing. And knowing how amazing he is a wonderful feeling. It helps guide us and prepare us for the future.

A Teacher's Brain

As the end of the school year is coming to the end, my teacher brain has already started planning for next year. I have been online searching for ideas for decor, organization, and lessons for the first couple of days. I have also been searching for lessons in ELA (English Language Arts). For the past few year, I have only taught math and science. The coming year, I am having to teach it all. This frightens me because I feel I am a better math and science teacher and will not be able to do my job as well with ELA.

With that being said, for all the teacher's out there, I came across some really good ideas from some awesome websites and want to share them.

So we ended up having a offer come in on the house! I was not happy. I did not know what to think. The offer came in low, way too low for me and almost made me mad. We did counter offer and they came back again with a different one. We just ended up saying no! Matt and everyone else thinks the people are trying to get something for nothing. Maybe next time!!!!

8 cups large white marshmallows
50g butter, chopped
12 cups (420g) rice bubbles
pink food coloring
green and pink candy coated chocolates
candles, to decorate

whipped vanilla icing

125g butter, softened
1 cup (160g) icing (confectioner's) sugar, sifted
1 tablespoon milk
½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Place the marshmallows and butter in a saucepan over low heat. Stir until melted and smooth. Place the rice bubbles in a bowl, add the marshmallow mixture and mix until well combined. Using slightly damp hands, press the mixture into a greased and lined 20cm-round cake tin. Refrigerate for 1 hour, or until firm.

To make the whipped vanilla icing, place the butter in the bowl of an electric mixer and beat for 6–8 minutes or until pale and creamy. Add the icing sugar, milk and vanilla and beat for a further 6 minutes or until light and creamy. Add a few drops of pink food colouring to the icing and mix well to combine.

Turn out onto a cake stand. Use a small fluted nozzle to pipe the pink icing around the edge of the cake and decorate with candy coated chocolates and candles.

The due date for this stuff is March 31 and I have to have all this stuff done and in the box the correct way with the correct things paper clips a certain way and in a certain order. Books I cant put down!!!

Lately, I have been reading books by Karen Kingsbury, an amazing Christian author. A good friend started me on them and I can't seem to put them down. When I first started, I read the whole first series of four books in one week. When I moved onto the next group, I read the first book in a day. All this is really crazy for me because I am not a reader....at all! I use to hate reading long chapter books but now I can't stop! The first series of her the collection is called The Redemption Series. This collection is about the Baxter Family. Each book goes into detail about each one of the member of this family. By the end, you feel as though you are apart of the family. The next is the Firstborn Series which is a continuation of the Baxters and a new family member. The Baxters story yet continues in the next series, Sunrise. I have not started it yet but I have read the collection of books that follows it, Above the Line. I actually started with the Above the Line series.

With all this being said, I was just asked to be in a book club. The book club for Karen Kingsbury books!!!! And I am pumped!!!! Me the non-reader is now excited about a book club. I must be finally growing up. The club is starting after the new book comes out on March 22. (in a few weeks)! It too, is a break off with the Baxter family and other characters (Bailey and Cody)!

So, if anyone is looking for a great book. I think you should "dive" into a book by Karen Kingsbury! You will not be let down!

Ok...so I know I have not been on here in almost a year! But I can explain. I have been busy. Well that is not a good reason. Today, after 12:30, I will become an AUNT of baby number 4. We don't know if its going to be a girl or a boy but I can't wait. We are so excited for Sara and Kyle. The word is out....our home is up for sale. Please pass the word along! It is located in a quiet neighborhood called Shadowbrooke, right behind Lexington High School. The house is 1225 square feet and was built in 2005. It has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. It has a large, nicely landscaped backyard. It is a wonderful house for a first time home buyer. Easter

Our first Easter was a great day. It was a day of great reminders of what was sacrificed for all of us many years ago. Matt and I went to church early in the morning on Sunday. Then headed to Saluda Shoals Park for lunch with the family. We ate lunch, hung out, walked down the river, and the kids did an Easter Egg hunt. After we left the park, we went to Matt's Grandmothers to hang out with his family. It was a great relaxing time. Matt even got to take a nap:)

To make one, first frost a cupcake prepared from your favorite recipe with yellow icing and place a colored gumdrop in the center. Next, set a large marshmallow on its side, press it flat with your palm, then cut it in thirds with kitchen shears. Repeat with a second marshmallow and arrange the petals around the gumdrop center.

Super Bowl Fun Foods

As the Super Bowl is fast approaching, this girl has to plan ahead. (esp when your husband has invited people over). Here is what is planned so far. I'll let everyone know how it goes.

Bacon Wrapped Sausages

3/4 pound regular bacon
1 pound package small smoked sausages
2/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Preparation:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Cut bacon slices in half. Fry bacon in large pan until some of the fat is rendered but the bacon is still pliable; do not let bacon get crisp.
Cool bacon 5 minutes on paper towels, then wrap each sausage with a piece of the precooked bacon. Roll each little bundle in brown sugar, fasten with a toothpick, and place on wire rack. Place rack in 13" x 9" baking pan lined with foil.
Drizzle maple syrup over the sausages and sprinkle with pepper. Bake 25-35 minutes until sausages are hot and bacon is crisp. Remove rack from pan and cool sausage bundles 4-5 minutes before serving.

Sour Cream Onion Dip

1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 onion, chopped
1 (16-ounce) container sour cream
1 (3-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 envelope dry onion soup mix
Preparation:
In large saucepan, combine butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add onions; cook and stir until onions start to brown, about 10 minutes. Lower heat to low and cook and stir for another 10 minutes until browned. Remove from heat and let cool for 30 minutes.
In large bowl, combine sour cream with cream cheese; beat until smooth. Stir in onion dip mix and the cooled onions. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving with chips.

Crockpot Snack Mix

3 cups thin pretzel sticks
4 cups wheat chex cereal
4 cups cheerios cereal
12 oz. jar salted peanuts
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1/2 tsp. celery salt
1/2 tsp. seasoned salt
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Preparation:
Combine all ingredients in 4 to 5 quart crockpot and stir gently until well mixed and cereal, pretzels, and peanuts are coated with the butter, cheese, and spices. Cover crockpot and cook on low 3-4 hours, stirring twice during cooking. Remove lid during last half hour of cooking to let the mix dry.

As we approach the month of LOVE, I sit here and wonder. What is LOVE? Does it have a true meaning? Is it action? It is just words? Can we see it? Can you feel it? And, I say yes to all of the of the above. Though, sometimes it hard to truly see and feel, we all now that it is there. Its just like God. We can't see him...We can't feel....But we so believe he is there and its called Faith. He shows his love to us in so many ways. He provides for us and is there for us in our time of need. He has given us life and given us love. He even gives us others to love. I know! He gave me a family, awesome friends and an amazing Husband. He gave me a man made in his own image to be here on earth to love, provide, talk to me and pray for, and to take care of me for him until the day he greets me in Heaven. Though I can't wait for that day, I also can't wait to spend my first Valentine's Day with the man of my dreams. I love you MATT!

Lazy Mans Omelet

Have you ever tried to make an omelet before? How did it turn out? Well, mine never turn out the way I want them to. So....I have found a new way. My mom made these for my family and Matt and I tried to make them for ourselves. They turned out great.

All you need.....

a freezer zip-lock bag

3 eggs
cheese

Bacon

and a pot of water.

(you can add whatever topping you would like to your omelet but this is what we had)

Take the 3 eggs and crack them into the zip-lock bag. Once in the bag, smash the eggs with your fingers. Then add your topping. After adding what you want to you omelet, place it in the pot of boiling water. Let it hang out for about 10 mins. Take the bag out of the pot and place the omelet on a plate.

You now have the perfect omelet!!!!!

And it taste just as good.

First Trip of 2010!!!

Last weekend, Matt and I took a trip to North Carolina with some friends. It was a nice weekend, even with the rain. On the way home we stopped by Biltmore. It was the first time I had ever been there. I enjoyed the weekend and it was much needed.

Out with the Old and In with the New

This past weekend, was a weekend of makeover and "Spring Cleaning" in the Winter. When we got married, all of our presents got placed into the office, in a closet, or in the garage. When we needed the item, we would go searching for it. Now that football is over, we spent all day Saturday getting the "important" stuff done or as everyone would call it "The Honey-Do List" done. Everything now how its place for now and we have an organized house. During this time, I also got my new chandelier hung and did alittle a make over on a few items.

It's 2010!!!

WoW! What a year Matt and I had in 2009. We both went through so many great adventures together and change. First of all, we got engaged on May 3. Matt asked me to marry him on the lake, where we grew up together, in front of family and friends. Then my brother and his wife had a beautiful baby boy and made me an Aunt!!! But best of all, we got married three months after we got engaged on August 1. It was the best day of our lives (YEAH YEAH! I know! Everyone says that). I started the school year teacher a new grade level and Matt changed jobs. It has been an awesome year and we are so blessed!

Now it's 2010 and there is so much I want to want to do.

Here are the goals of the year....

~to become closer to God

~to travel (CRUISE- I have never been on one before)

~ to get rid of most of my credit (pay off my car)

~ to take more class for my Masters +30

~ to become more crafty (there is so much I want to make)

~ to see the mountains in the Fall

Ill let you know how is goes but until then......let me just say...LIFE IS GRAND!!!!

Christmas Part 3, 4, and 5

Oh nap time has begun, after our busy first Christmas. We started Christmas Eve going to Church with Matt's Family at LMBC. It was a great service and ended in candlelight. After the service, we went to Matt's parents house to read the Christmas Story out of Luke 2. Our next stop of the night was at my parents where we ate steamed oysters and watched Fireworks by a campfire.
Christmas day, was just as busy. Matt and I woke up and had our first Christmas with each other. We then traveled the 5 minute drive down the road to Sara and Kyle's (Matt's sisters house) to have family Christmas and have breakfast. YUM!!! Kyle and Shane made an awesome breakfast. Our next stop was back to Mom and Dad's for Christmas lunch and do our white elephant gifts. Our final stop was a couple house down from Mom and Dad's, at Matt's Grandmother. We had dinner and gifts.
Our first Christmas together was wonderful and Im glad I got to spend it with all our Families. Now it's time for New Year's. Here we come 2010!!!!

Lights At the Zoo

Last night, Matt and I went to the see the "Lights at the Zoo." My student teacher works at the zoo part time and gave us free passes. We also asked Justin and Rossie to go with us while they were home for Christmas. I have only been one time before, a couple of years ago, and I was very excited about going again. While we were there, we got hot chocolate, saw some of the animals out, and looked at the lights. I also tried to get Matt to go get our picture taken with Santa but he was scared! HAHA. Overall, we had a great time and it something we will remember as our First Christmas together as The Hollimans!!

I was watching HGTV the other day and a Holiday decorating show came on. It was about the 25 top decorating ideas for the season. On the show, they showed a family who used metal letters to spell out holiday words in different rooms of the house. I fell in love with the idea and started to think how I could add that special touch to my home. This is what I came up with. I went to the stoew and bought my supplies. I wanted to use a different word that many people do not normally use and decided on JOY. Its what the season brings anyway. I painted the background bright green and the letters red. I added dots to the background as well. I hung them on the dividing wall of our den and kitchen. This is how they turned out. Now onto my next project. Im ready!!!!

Christmas is one of my favorite holidays along with Thanksgiving. I love the fact that you get to change your house around and add those touches to the house to make it so special. This Christmas, Matt and I got to pick out a wonderful tree and decorate our home. Our presents are wrapped and waiting to be opened with family on Christmas Day. I can't wait.

Our good friend Matthew West recently teamed up with Amy Grant to record his new Christmas song “Give This Christmas Away.” It was written as the theme song for the new Veggie Tales Christmas movie called “St. Nicholas–A Story of Joyful Giving” releasing this fall.
Not one to go through the motions…Matthew has also partnered with Tyndale House Publishers to write his new book, “101 Simple, Meaningful Ways to Give This Christmas Away.” The book will feature the lyrics to this new song along with how he was inspired to write it. Each page of the book will contain one idea on the theme, plus an explanation on how to put it into practice, with a related Bible verse selected from the New Living Translation (NLT.) The 101 ways will range from the seemingly insignificant ways – like holding the door for someone – to working with a ministry, such as Operation Christmas Child, and discovering what giving to that organization means in the life of a child. Matthew talks about why this book is important to him…“I think this will also be a great book for families to work through together, to re-focus on the true meaning of Christmas. My family and I will be picking a bunch of the ways to give and take part too.”
Matthew is the official spokesperson for Operation Christmas Child, a division of the international relief organization Samaritan’s Purse. We Are Thankful!

Thanksgiving....a time to give thanks. But should we do it only during this time of year. I think not but it is a time to reflect on what we are very thankful for. Everyday, Matt and I are thankful for a God that forgives us, loves us, and who sent his son for us. Everyday, we are thankful for two families that have given us a Christian background, who will do anything for the two of us, and who love us. These two families are what made our first Thanksgiving and will continue to make it one of the best holidays.

Our Thanksgiving together started with us actually have a morning to sleep in. (and we are so very thankful for it) We started our day, completing our morning devotional and giving thanks in prayer. Then, I made Matt watch the Macy's Day Parade and made him enjoy every second of it. We then made it to our first stop of the day with family one. We got to spend some time with Matt's great family and eat some wonderful food. Stop two, was at Aunt DeeDee's house, where we snacked on some more food and played games. It was a great time just hanging out with family and enjoying each others company. For this time spent with our families, we are thankful and it is what makes us love this holiday.

The rest of the weekend consisted of us selling Christmas trees and wreaths to many wonderful people. Yes, a tree lot for Christmas, but to tell you the truth, it has been a great adventure for us so far. Seeing people get excited for the Christmas season but also rememember what this time is really all about. And yet again, we are thankful.

Over the past couple of months, Matt and I started our morning devotional. We both get up together to read The Love Dare. It is a couples bible study from the movie Fireproof. I have come to enjoy this time, even so early in the morning. I would like to share a few verses and "dares" we have found to love.

The First Week as THE HOLLIMANS

On Sunday August 2, Matt and I left for Jamaica. We stayed at Sandals Dunns River Falls Resort. It was an awesome stay. We were suppose to be staying at Ocho Rios but Friday before we got married, are plans were changed. The beach was gorgeous with white sand and blue clear water. You could see everything to the bottom. While there, we took a boat out to the Falls where we hiked to the top. We also snorkled! The food was amazing. It was crazy though. We got to eat whatever we liked and when we were done, we just got up and left. The resort also included two nice pools with bars in the middle of them. Whenever, you wanted a drink, you just swam up to it and ordered what you wanted. It was a great first week of our life together!

Once Upon A Time.

August 1, 2009 was the day Matt and I became husband and wife. It was a wonderful day and one I will never forget. It started early in the morning with just my mom and I getting ready together at the house. Mom then carried me to the church to finish getting ready.

Yes!!!! I did it. I started a blog. I was thinking it would be a great way to let everyone in on our new life together as a MARRIED COUPLE! Oh my, that is still so crazy to me. I am married and I have a HUSBAND!
Matt and I have now been married for 3 months and 5 days and it has already been a roller coaster for the both of us. After all the wedding parties and yes the big event, we left on our HONEYMOON. We had such a great time but could not wait to return home to begin our life together. And OH it begun and it was all a big change. I started back to work as a 3rd grade teacher, Matt finished moving all his stuff in, started a new job and started school. We have just started to adjust to each other and to this change. As we make this fun and exciting change, our stories, events, laughs, pictures, or just whatever will be shared. Following along with us on HOME OF THE HOLLIMAN'S!!!
